He's Gonna Break Hearts

Drill Bit has started really smiling now. He turned 2 months this week, so he is right on time, no "adjusted age" needed.
I will apologize now that all the photos were taking with my phone, because that is what I had on me.

The first smiles we saw were always right as he fell asleep.

They were precious and made my heart melt.

But then he started REALLY smiling.
His face lights up when he sees his mommy. The photos don't really do it justice.

Yeah, that is going to melt some girls hearts!

His sister, Bitty Bit, got the biggest smile of all, though.

He has all of us wrapped around his finger. I sure love that kid!

The Next Apolo . . .

She was practicing her short track techniques here.
Not sure what is up with the tongue--guess she was really concentrating.

That girl is fast! Check out those Olympic level skills!

Yup, she is definitely a future speedskater.

Either that or she had a lollipop after lunch and is on a sugar high. I like the first story better, though--guess I better go buy some skates.

Child Labor (Room Renovation Edition)

The girls are getting ready to help sand drywall.

You can't tell, but they are grinning from ear to ear under those masks--they are really seriously excited that we are letting them help.

She Has Issues

I am not sure how she managed it, but even in the middle of a blizzard . . .

Kallie found a stick.

She's obsessed.

Bit of a Blizzard

I have never experienced snow like this before. It was incredible and beautiful.

Until we lost power (and therefore, water, because we live in the country and have a well and pump), and then it became irritating.

But now we have power again and I am warm. And hydrated. I can enjoy the incredible beauty of winter.

I call this one "Longing For Summer." Or maybe just "Irony."

When the sky cleared the next day, the snow against the stark blue was absolutely breathtaking.

And I loved the contrast of the dark branches and glistening snow in the woods.

And the thousands of icicles on the pine branches.

Snowboarding Bits

We didn't really send Drill Bit careening down the hill, for those of you who were worried. If we had, I am quite certain my mother or sister would have stolen him from us!

We did, however, teach the older Bits to snowboard.

And by "we" I mean my Handsome Engineer. I can't snowboard. I would like to say it is because I haven't ever had the opportunity. And really, I haven't, but it is mostly because I am a big coward. (Horse galloping across an open field doesn't bother me, but send me sliding down a hill and my heart stops!)
My girls are not cowards, though.

Lil Bit did pretty good for her first time!

She had a lot of fun, too!

I think if we used a better snowboard that was her size, she would have done fantastic.

Bitty Bit loved it!

She was actually the first one to try--absolutely no fear!

And, as always, her balance was amazing.

I think she is just about ready for a black diamond hill.

Sledding to Disaster

Six weeks is old enough to go sledding. Right?

Right?

Right??

I think I just had an apoplexy. Kind of like my mom is doing as she reads this post.

Hi mom!
Mom??
You ok over there?
Mom?

Hmm. Maybe we should have waited till he was seven weeks old.

Mom, I promise we did not actual send Drill Bit sledding down the hill. We did teach Bitty Bit to snowboard though.
Two years old is old enough, right? Right?
Mom?
