Surround Them With What You Want Them to Love

This was the advice a friend had received and passed on to me. If you surround your kids with what you want them to love, they will. My friend and I are both book lovers. I am usually reading at least a couple books at once (although, with three kids, those books take me much longer to finish) and my friend is my best source for good reading recommendations.

So . . .
If there is anything that my house has too much of, it is books.

And laundry.
And dogs.
And maybe dishes (I love to cook though, which annoyingly results in many dishes)

But we are focusing on books today. We have lots of books. Shelves of books. Books in baskets. And sometimes books strewn across the playroom floor.

And my girls do love books.
They wake up with books. And . . .

They fall asleep with books.

They Are NOT Monsters

This weekend, while dear friends were visiting, we had a lot of rain. With six kids between us, staying inside would have been chaos.
So, we put them all in rainboots and sent them outside. (At one point, this resulted in a muddy disaster of epic proportions, but that is another story.)

Bitty Bit has adorable rainboots.

My friend, Diana, said, "I love your monster rainboots!"
Bitty Bit said, "They are NOT monsters."

Really? What else could they be?
So, Diana asked, thinking maybe Bitty thought they were crocodiles or something along those lines.

But that was not what these are, according to Bitty Bit.

"They are bunny rabbits."
And she proceeded to hop off the porch to illustrate how very bunny-like her boots are.

Guess What I Found!

It involves robins . . .

And swingsets

And crocuses

And Daffodils

And it makes my heart soar a bit.

Can you guess?

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

The Bits are so different from each other. And each so incredible.

Lil Bit is my joy.
She is light and energy and enthusiasm.
She is brilliant and studious.
She is goofy and silly.
She is also a little bit of a klutz and a tad scatterbrained.

Bitty Bit is reserved with people. She tends to evaluate someone for about six months before she decides they are worth her time.
But once someone cracks her facade, she is sweetness and warmth.
She is witty and a prankster. She is organized and graceful.
She is purposeful. She is stubborn.
She is a charmer.
She is my sunshine.

We are still waiting to discover what Drill Bit will be like. But there are a few things we know.
He is happy.
He is a snuggler.
He loves people--familiar people, new people, anyone who will interact with him.
He is active.
He has seriously stylin' hair.
He has my heart.

Good Jeans

He is lucky he has good jeans, because his genes are a little questionable, especially on his mom's side.

He sure is cute, though.
